Embrace Your Inner Child With McDonald’s Annual Holiday Campaign Via Leo Burnett London
The fourth annual “Reindeer Ready” campaign captures the young spirit that exists within us all during the holidays.
Are you “#ReindeerReady”?
With this simple question, McDonald’s UK prepares us for the holidays with the fourth edition of this annual campaign. Together, with Leo Burnett London, the duo launched “Inner Child,” a heartwarming holiday spot that provides us with a much-needed dose of Christmas magic.
This year’s spot consists of a 90-second film that follows a boy named Tom as he struggles to embrace his inner child during beloved holiday traditions in his teenage years.
From hanging decorations to walking around the Christmas market, Tom’s mother tries getting him in the festive spirit—no small feat for an adolescent who’s outgrown childish things. Nothing seems to be getting through to him, that is until a trip to McDonald’s and its annual Reindeer Treats remind him of what’s really important. Thanks to this tradition, Tom has a change of heart and joins in with the festivities.
“Tom and his mum perfectly demonstrate the truth of the teenage/child conflict that we can all relate to and, ultimately, the magic of Christmas in bringing people closer together," said Chaka Sobhani, CCO at Leo Burnett London. "After all, if you can’t be ‘forever young’ at Christmas, when can you be?”
The film unfolds to singer and songwriter Becky Hill’s remake of Forever Young, which was released on November 15. With every download the track receives, 10 pence will be donated to FareShare, the U.K.’s longest-running food distribution charity.
