Leo Burnett Wins 18 Awards at ADFEST and Places 1st and 2nd in the Young Lotus Awards Competition

Leo Burnett’s creative strength shines at ADFEST 2019, with 11 global offices earning honors.

Leo Burnett showcased the power of creativity at ADFEST 2019, with 18 award wins and 13 finalists in Asia Pacific and MENA.

ADFEST is a celebration of the uniqueness of local culture in the region and serves as a barometer for the health of its creativity. With winning work for major brands including Samsung, Mercedes-Benz, Honda, China Airlines, Du Telecommunications, Sony and more, the Leo Burnett network demonstrates its commitment to being the best in the world, bar none.

Leo Burnett Executive Chairman and Global Chief Creative Officer Mark Tutssel served as Grand Jury President this year, delivering a keynote address on the final day. Tutssel urged the industry to “Obey Your Hunches,” and illuminated why instinct, alchemy and entrepreneurial thinking will win the creative future. Commenting on the quality of work this year:

“What I enjoyed the most was the diversity of thinking. The entries came from everywhere throughout Asia Pacific, and each idea was rich in human understanding and had their own unique cultural flair. It was a joy to judge the 2019 Lotus Awards.”

In a true showing of Creativity Without Borders, two of the most noteworthy wins—the Innova Lotus and Lotus Roots—were bestowed upon Sri Lanka and Toronto for their brilliant work for JAT Holdings, ‘Petal Paint.’

The Innova Lotus asked finalists to present their work live to an audience of ADFEST delegates and answer questions from the panel of eight jury presidents on-stage. Of the 40 entrants, only four were named winners—including ‘Petal Paint.’

Lotus Roots is known as the heart of ADFEST, honoring work that draws inspiration from the rich diversity of histories, cultures and people of the Asia Pacific and MENA regions. ‘Petal Paint’ again rose to the top for the work’s cultural impact, relevance and innovation.

The network embodied ADFEST’s theme of “Tomorrow Today” with a 1st and 2nd place win in the Young Lotus Awards, a competition that recognizes the best and brightest rising talent in the industry.

Two pairs of talented women were honored in this category—congratulations to Holly Burgess and Lucy Logan from Leo Burnett Melbourne and Asuka Kobayashi and Mariko Kondo from Leo Burnett Tokyo.
